Gabe took this picture of Bessie painting. She loves to paint on wood. Summer affords us some leisure time to pursue other things we enjoy. I think we need to find a place so she can take some lessons. Doesn't she look deep in concentration?
The baby tree swallows are almost ready to fledge. They are so soft looking. The momma was not happy that I was photographing her little ones. She repeatedly swooped toward us until we closed the box back up.
Gabe rescued this dragonfly from our pool. It had gotten it's wings wet and couldn't get off the water. I sat for quite a while with it perched on my finger. I think dragonflies are so lovely and their wings incredibly beautiful.
We have had some terrific afternoon storms in recent weeks, complete with thunder and lightening, hail, wind and torrential downpours. I really love these storms. These clouds are typical for this type of weather.
We have had guinea fowl for many years. We only have three left, but we think the female might be sitting on a nest, so hopefully we will have more soon. They are the silliest looking birds, but do a good job on the tick population.
Brian and I both dislike painting fences, so our pool fence has taken on a nice weathered look these days. My sister in law, Theresa, has informed us that this worn, weather look is the in thing for fences these days! I knew our procrastination might benefit us someday!
Some of the peonies in the garden are flowering. This is a very old variety, pure white with just a tinge of red in the center. Not only is this an old variety, but a very old plant. This is a piece of the plant from my parents house and my dad said it has been there as long as he can remember.
This plant is called a painted fern. I have several ferns in my garden, but this is probably my favorite. I love the purple hues and the unusual color green.
I am a daughter to the King, proud wife to my wonderful airman, and mom to five terrific kids and one son-in-law. We are a homeschool family. I struggle to walk the narrow path and God is ever faithful, showering me with daily grace and mercy, as He walks along with me, even when I get off into the brush.
I enjoy gardening, quilting, cross-stitching and reading.
